If I were to try to describe the sensation when I witness a musician singing while accompanying themselves skillfully, it is one of intimacy with the audience, as if the act of combining voice and instrument in the same moment were an invitation to us listeners to lean in and pay closer attention to a performer who is laying out all their cards on the table—an act both of vulnerability and expressive power. Si je devais essayer de décrire ce que j'éprouve lorsque j’écoute un musicien ou une musicienne chanter en s'accompagnant habilement, je dirais que j'ai la sensation que l'artiste crée un rapport plus intime avec son public.
